Platform 2020

The Platform 20/20 is the first web processing system to combine the benefits of bidirectional inspection, fault editing and reinspection with unidirectional slitting, counting, lead & tail creation and inkjet printing - all in a single pass. This is achieved through the use of a unique, patented shuttle retrieval system, located between the unwind and outfeed nip, which buffers material and allows detected faults to be retrieved, corrected and re-inspected, without moving the unwind or rewind rolls.

Designed for the pharmaceutical and security sensitive industries, where product quality and integrity are of primary concern, the Platform 20/20 offers the highest level of quality control while providing cost effective throughput because the machine is stopped and the product reversed only when faults are present; otherwise 100% inspected product is being processed for immediate shipment. Previously, to achieve a similar level of quality control, product had to undergo multiple processes, often through different pieces of equipment, which added cost and time.

All Platform 20/20s are equipped with the Arpeco Dynatrak, advanced multiprocessor machine controller with touch screen operator interface, which handles the important aspects of security count, web tension control, fault detection parameters, and machine condition monitoring. Other standard features include a hydraulic unwind roll lifter, electronic web guide, cartridge- style shear slitting, web advance unit and closed-loop rewind tension control. Optionally a variety of electronic fault detection systems including flag/splice, matrix/missing label detection, barcode scanning or 100% vision Inspection can be provided. Also available are stroboscopes, waste rewind, log reporting, core label printing, lead & tail creation systems, duplex rewind and a variety of slitting capabilities.
